The Definition of Sea Change

Sea Change is when people move from the city to start a new life by the sea, generally a coastal village or sometimes going as far as buying in remote spots right on the ocean front.

Tree Change is when people do the complete opposite of the sand and sea and head for the hills or to the country. Again they may find themselves within a small county town or village or on acreage with no neighbours for community near by.

The National Sea Change Taskforce project that in the next 15 years, 15% or nearly 1 million people could be making the change from the stress and demands of city life to a more peaceful existence near the sea or in the country.

Sometimes people move straight into the community and thrive, other times it turns into a nightmare when the rejection and change just become too much for some people.

Other times the move comes when a partner is relocated by their employer and their spouse is left unable to get meaningful, well paid work and find themself alone in a community that was not their choice.

Unless you have had a holiday home in the area for many years and know the community well, people need special support during the transition of a sea change.
