Corporate Sea Change

Moving staff whether it's moving a desk to another floor or relocating across the world can be challenging because it involves change.

More and more companies are moving their staff to different locations and this move needs to be as smooth as possible. Often though the all important spouse is left out of the process and ends up feeling alone and lonely in their new destination.

I am able to provide support to the staff member being moved but especially to their spouse. When a couple move to a smaller town one has a guaranteed job but the other is left to their own devices and this can be an unsettling time. It doesn't just happen during sea change, it can just as easily occur with a move between cities.

In a recent conversation I was told by someone in this exact situation that although they were incredibly well supported with packers and movers and in finding a place to live, and she felt incredibly well supported on a material level. However, she was left feeling less than supported emotionally when the extent of her support was being handed a list of women's organisations she could contact.

Providing support for staff and their spouses means

Because I've lived the journey of sea change and by doing it alone I experienced more than most during my settling in period.

I know what people are going through and it's not always the big issues causing problems.

I'm prepared to listen because sometimes that is all that is needed to get someone through. I know how to move quickly through situations that challenge and I know how to help people find fulfilling work or even support them in setting up their own small business.

Change doesn't have to be a negative experience for a spouse and sometimes it is a wonderful opportunity for someone to really delve into what they want to do with their life, and help them feel in control of their life. It really can be a win-win situation for everyone.
